A BioBlitz is a rapid census of nearby nature. Share the infographic with students and ask them to describe what a BioBlitz is in their own words. Ask: What is counted during a BioBlitz? What tools can help with a BioBlitz?

Have students select a part of the world where they would like to conduct a BioBlitz. Ask them to do research online to determine at least ten species of plants, ten species of animals, and ten species of fungi they might find there. Then ask them to make a poster advertising their BioBlitz and encouraging people to participate. If feasible, you can also organize a BioBlitz in your schoolyard or elsewhere in the neighborhood. You can find many resources to help you and your students organize a BioBlitz here.
