- [Jamal] I was an explorer at the age of 11. I sat on my grandma's lawn and I see a weird-looking boat go by. I heard that they're doing research about an animal that I care about. Manatees are very important to my life. It's not a job to me. I felt it was my duty to speak up for these animals that can't speak for themselves. Just because they can't speak doesn't mean that they don't have something to say. In one, two, three... Change has to come and someone has to do it. Why can't I be that someone?

My name is Jamal Galves, and my mission is to safeguard the Antillean manatees of Belize.

- [Jamal] A los 11 años era un explorador. Me senté en el césped de mi abuela y vi pasar un barco de aspecto raro. Escuché que estaban investigando sobre un animal que me importa. Los manatíes son muy importantes para mi vida. No es un trabajo para mí. Sentí que mi deber era hablar por estos animales que no pueden hablar por sí mismos. Que no puedan hablar no significa que no tengan algo que decir. A la cuenta de uno, dos, tres... El cambio tiene que llegar y alguien tiene que hacerlo. ¿Por qué no puedo ser ese alguien?

Mi nombre es Jamal Galves y mi misión es proteger a los manatíes antillanos de Belice.
