Mapping the Human Journey
Mapping the Human Journey
Cartographer Jeff Blossom (Harvard Center for Geographic Analysis) has made maps of all kinds over his career, but one of his most rewarding partnerships has been with National Geographic Explorer and professional shoe-destroyer Paul Salopek. Paul's Out of Eden Walk is taking him from East Africa through Asia, and eventually across to Alaska and down through the Americas on a 33,700 kilometer (21,000 mile) journey. Maps are essential to this walk, and Jeff is the perfect person to supply them, so that Paul knows where to go and—often more importantly—where to avoid.
