World's Largest Coral
World's Largest Coral
Scientists and filmmakers from National Geographic Pristine Seas measured the world's largest coral during an expedition to the Solomon Islands in late 2024. The gigantic organism is a complex network of coral polyps—tiny individual creatures—that have grown over a span of three centuries. Nicknamed the mega coral, the Pavona clavus is larger than the blue whale.
