About This Event
Explorer Katlin Bowman Adamczyk is an oceanographer and physical scientist who studies mercury chemistry and plastic pollution. She works for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at the Pacific Coastal & Marine Science Center in California. She recently went on an exciting expedition to Santorini, Greece, an active volcano in the Mediterranean Sea, joined by a team of scientists with one collective goal: to better understand how to predict explosive volcanic eruptions in the future. Join this event to see firsthand footage of the expedition, to learn how they used a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to study underwater hydrothermal vents, and what the waters surrounding a volcano can tell us.
