Wildlife Series 2026

What do foxes, barn owls, bobcats, and tiger sharks all have in common? They’re living right next door to us! Join this five-part Wildlife Series to learn about the conservation challenges facing our wildest neighbors and how National Geographic Explorers are helping these species across America.

This series of live virtual events and accompanying activities will ignite your students’ curiosity and deepen their connection to local wildlife. Each event in the series is hosted by Explorer and shark scientist Gibbs Kuguru, and includes a live presentation by a featured Explorer, pop quizzes, and a Q&A session. It’s your students’ chance to talk wildlife with a real Explorer!

After the event, guide your students through “mission” activities aimed to spark curiosity about wildlife and inspire local conservation ideas. The program is designed for learners in grades 3-8 (ages 8-14), but all are welcome to join! The program aligns strongly with Science and English Language Arts standards. Students will practice asking questions, examining interdependent relationships in ecosystems, and developing claims from evidence and details.
